Wolford Development:
The Executive Team

Bucky Wolford (12/1/46-9/1/17)
Founder

James L. “Bucky” Wolford began his career in retail development over 40 years ago with Arlen Shopping Centers, Inc.  In 1978, Bucky Wolford and four others broke away from Arlen and formed CBL and Associates, Inc.  During the next 20 years, under Bucky’s direction as Senior Executive Vice President of the company, CBL & Associates saw their portfolio grow to 22,000,000 square feet of space. His retail experience includes the development of fifteen enclosed regional malls as well as numerous strip centers.  In 1993, CBL & Associates went public, raising in excess of $450,000,000.  Today the company is known as CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. and trades under the symbol CBL on the New York Stock Exchange.

After three years of working for the REIT, which corresponded to Bucky’s stock “lock-out”, Bucky entered retirement in 1997 and anxiously awaited the termination of his non-compete, which expired in January 1999.  Upon the expiration of his non-compete, Bucky formed Wolford Development, Inc. and re-entered the retail development business.  Through his numerous contacts with major retailers, the new company has been a success.
